Morning Beverage Won — Tonic Awakening
MB1 · The first cup of the day
The first of Ed’s two morning beverages: a hydration and mineral tonic taken on waking, before MB2. Primarily intended for health — physical, mental, emotional, spiritual — with a savory intention as well.
Ingredient list current as of July 2, 2026. Ed’s lists evolve; this is a snapshot of his at-home, in-his-own-pantry version.
Core ingredients
| Ingredient | Notes |
|---|---|
| Water | Quality matters — filtered or spring |
| Lemon or lime juice | Fresh-squeezed |
| Salt sole | Saturated brine of unrefined salt (or just a pinch of good salt) |
Optional extras — in order of importance (Ed’s opinion)
- Apple cider vinegar
- Fulvic and humic minerals
- Water kefir
- Pomegranate juice
- Coconut water
- Chlorophyll from alfalfa
Method
- Start with a glass of water (room temperature or warm).
- Add a squeeze of lemon or lime and a teaspoon of salt sole (or a pinch of salt).
- Layer in any of the optional extras to taste and intention.
- Drink first thing in the morning.
After-tonic note
Because of the acid of the citrus, some folks like to swish a pinch of baking soda in water in their mouth after MB1, for the pH of their teeth.
Quality principles
The biggie is organic. There are subtleties of quality that can make a big difference in the health effect — see the ingredient guide for sourcing research on each item.
